PCSO Report
Fletching, along with the other villages in the Wealden area is a wonderful place to live. It is also a relatively safe place, it does not experience many of the harsh problems of large urban cities. But sadly, regardless of the size of any rural location, your community may experience crime. And burglaries to farms and rural properties are a real issue. This is where Farm Watch can help. Farmwatch is a crime prevention initiative and is based on the idea that farmers, police and communities join together to take action to cut local crime and create a caring community.
Members of the community have a lot of invaluable local knowledge which the local Police Community Support Officers and Neighbourhood Police Officers may struggle to achieve. This knowledge and awareness is the basis of Farm Watch. We invite members of rural communities, farmers, yard owners and rural businesses to sign up and get involved. As a member you would be helping to reduce the opportunities for crime to occur, the more difficult it can be made for criminals, the more likely it is that crime can be reduced. By keeping an eye out for any suspicious activity, you can help to make your community more secure.
The role of members is to report anything suspicious, (via calls, text or email,) that they may have seen or heard and then pass it on to the Sussex Police. The role of Sussex police is to act upon, process and edit that information, passing it on to communities wherever suitable, via text and email.
To request a Farm Watch application pack please contact me. And please, continue to report any suspicious activity in the area on the non-emergency number 0845 60 70 999 or in the event of an emergency or a crime taking place ring 999.
On a different matter I am a nominated Wildlife Officer. Sussex police are keen to address rural issues of poaching and animal welfare such as badger baiting and hare coarsing. We have had real success in these areas. I would welcome any information on these issues and am happy to discuss any questions you may have.
Parking remains an issue in the village. Please call us on 0845 60 70 999 and we can get an available officer out to address the issues. And pleaseā¦. Park cars safely and considerately
Please contact me if you want more information.
