I do not want to alarm anyone but we all need to be aware of the situation. Please report anything you consider suspicious.  Remember this is not just across Wealden but everywhere you go.  Some of you may be travelling via our rail networks or via our airports so always keep an eye open.

Crime remains low across the District but as always the criminals have been out and about in our communities. Last week a burglary occurred in Hailsham whilst the owners were out at a boot fair.  Entry was by the rear conservatory.  Also last week, a lap top was stolen from a house whilst the owners had a BBQ in the rear garden.  The door was believed to have been unlocked.  Please remember to make sure all our doors are locked.  I would ask you all to pass this message on.

Today we received a report of a fire at Crowborough in open land.  This appears to be due to some fly tipping that occurred and started the fire.  We are investigating to try and locate the offender.  The local NPT team have already visited a number of people in connection with this.  If you have any information please give us a call.

Community resolutions are being used to great effect across the District.  In fact since the 1st April we have used this method of dealing with incidents on 38 occasions. That is more than any other district in Sussex.  This means we are really listening to the people who report incidents to us and dealing with the matter the way they would like it dealt with.

Next week I will do my monthly update which will be more detailed.  Remember you can follow me on Twitter @wealdenDistComm   I am now up to 117 followers and its growing every day.

Best wishes,

Dick Coates Wealden District Commander.
