Wealden News January/February 2012
Council Tax
Wealden Council is consulting on Council Tax levels for 2012/13. We are proposing to freeze Council Tax for the second year running, taking advantage of extra Government support for councils who limit expenditure increases to 2.5%. This applies only of course to the Wealden element of the tax which is a small proportion of the total, but County are also looking to keep spending under control. The Wealden element of tax will remain at £174.06 for an average Band D property for the third year in a row.

Wealden News December 2011
Snow and ice may be on the way to us so it could be useful this month to outline the County Council’s policy on winter maintenance.
The County has 2000 miles of roads and cannot grit them all so they concentrate on A and B roads and 75% of C roads which are the most heavily used. The normal salting routes cover just over 40% of the total road network.
There are 4 weather monitoring stations located throughout the county and when snow or near freezing temperatures are forecast, the roads will be treated. Generally roads are treated after the evening rush hour or before the morning rush hour.
