Parish Council Local Elections 2019

Every four years, all Parish Councillors must retire and if they wish, seek re-election to the Parish Council. This is also an opportunity for others to put themselves forward onto the Council for election. Fletching Parish Council has 9 council seats and the Council has no political affiliation. Members of the council simply work for the best interests of the local community.

The next full Council Elections take place on 2nd May 2019 and nominations for election can be made from Tuesday 19th March. The last date and time for nominations to be submitted is 4pm on Wednesday 3rd April 2019. All nominations are submitted directly to the Returning Officer at Wealden District Council.

If more than 9 nominations for the seats are received, then an election will be held and voting will take place on 2nd May 2019. If less than 9 nominations are received, then those that applied (that meet the qualifying criteria) will be automatically elected onto the Parish Council.

If you are interested in finding out more about what is involved in being a Parish Councillor then please contact the Parish Clerk, Lorna Thwaites via email: clerk@fletching-pc.org
